Weekly update from our first week in 2016, the tournament’s 20th year of operation.
Division 1 Week 1 – Tenpin City – 30 January
The division bowled an average of 179, 1 pin below last year’s average, at Tenpin City with 50 200 games and 15 600 series. The high game went to Chris Cooper 254, Rod ney Kitley 248, Shane Brown 241, Doug Lenton and Darren Topolski 236, Chris Bedwell 235, Darryl Burton 232 and Josh Vanderkolk and Kim Morris 231. The high series went to Kim with 655, Darryl 647, Chris Bedwell 640, Chris Greaves 637, Paul Logan 623, reserve Bob Cohen 621, Darren 618 and Chris Cooper 614. The ladies high game went to Sarah Heath 233, Helen Cios 224, Sarah again 222, reserve Kirsty Pepper 214, Janelle Crass with a pair of 203’s, with Trudy Gould who also bowled 203, Leigh Shepherd and Trudy again 202 and Kirsty again 201. The series went to Sarah 621, Kirsty 597, Janelle and Helen 585, Leigh and Hayley Fisher 558, Trudy 553, Meg Abdilla 524 and Michelle Simmonds 522.
Windsor 9 or Better scored 18 on the bye to take the lead in week 1, followed by Wetherill Park Guns 14, Fairfield Bruises, Lidcombe Lightning and Campbelltown Rebels 11, Campbelltown Cougars 10½ and Strathfield Sandbaggers 10 points. The high game went to 9 or Better with 1019, Bowlarama Hotshots 1009 and Lightning 974. The high series went to 9 or Better with 2944, Sandbaggers 2820 and Hotshots 2795.
Division 2 Week 1 – Wetherill Park – 30 January
The division bowled 170 average, 2 under the average from last year, with 31 200 games and 6 600 series. The high game went to Graeme Pulbrook 246, Ewan Thomas 245, Joe Wrublewski 239, Michael Campbell 237, Qim Yi Lee 233, Colin Dewberry 232, Wolf Miller and Michael again 226, Wolf again 224 and reserve Josh Pinney. Tenpin City Bandits won 14-5 to lead the division in week 1 followed by Western Warriors 13, Strathfield Superstrikers 12½, Bowlarama Alleycatz 12, Windsor Wanderers 11 and Gosford Grenades 10. The high game went to Alleycatz 958, Strathfield Sharks 947 and Wanderers 946. The series went to Alleycatz 2751, Warriors 2722 and Wanderers 2707.
Division 3 Week 1 – Fairfield 7-10 Split – 30 January
The division bowled 155 average, 3 pins below last year’s average, with 12 200 games and 2 600 series. The high game went to Bob Quinn 256, Mark Ellison 233, David Roberts 224, Kyle Keith-Wheatley 216, Nick Frost and Brad Cook 213, Bob again 212, Les Kirkland 208, Matt Jeffress 206, Kyle again 205 and William Scheers and Nathan Bracey on 201. Lidcombe Hells Angels scored 1 to lead the division despite three lane changes due to lane and water problems, while Bowlarama Lollipops and Fairfield Dragons 13, Wetherill Park All Stars 12½, Liverpool Lions 11 and Windsor Wonders 10. The high game went to All Stars 947, Lollipops 888 and Wonders 868. The series went to Wonders 2524, All Stars 2517 and Lollipops 2470.
