Just to clarify the substitution rule after two incidents in Bowl Sydney at Campbelltown City Bowl yesterday I append the rules from the TBA regarding this as there seemed to be a lot of conflicting opinions regarding the treatment:
RULE 327 INJURY, DISABILITY OR EMERGENCY
When a player is unable to complete a game because of disability, injury or emergency, and a qualified substitute is not available to bowl, the team of which he is a member will count his actual score for the frames bowled in the game total. One tenth of the Blind Score will be added for each remaining frame of the game. The frames bowled may not be used in calculating the bowler’s average.
When a player does not complete a game of their own volition and a qualified substitute is not available to bowl then the team will count zero for each of the frames not bowled.
RULE 328 SUBSTITUTIONS DURING GAME OR SERIES
After a game has started, no changes will be made in the order of the players during such game, except that for whatever reason, a qualified substitute is used to replace a bowler liste d in the line up. When a substitution is made during a game, the score of such game will be credited to the starting player. A player once removed from a game cannot return to bowl in the same game. Scores bowled through the effort of more than one individual player will not qualify for any TBA individual high score awards. Any game or series containing scores of more than one bowler must not be used to calculate an average.
